Little Keepers learn about seals on the beach Dec. 28

Dec 21, 2011

Little Keepers preschool program continues its regular 10 a.m. sessions with Seals on the Beach, slated for Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Students will be learning about a favorite marine mammal, the seal. During the winter months at the Delaware seashore, it is not unusual to find a harbor seal resting in the sun on one of the beaches in Delaware Seashore State Park. Program participants will learn about the life cycle of these seemingly cuddly pinnipeds, and make a safer one of their own to take home.

Specifically targeted for 3- to 5-year-olds, each program features stories, crafts and activities that explore place-based science and history topics. When weather permits, groups will venture outside to enjoy the environment firsthand. The cost of each program is $3 per child and all materials are included. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

For additional topics for Little Keepers, visit www.destateparks.com and navigate to programs under Delaware Seashore State Park. All programs meet at the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum 3.5 miles south of Dewey Beach and 1.5 miles north of the Indian River Inlet bridge. For more information on this or other programs held at Delaware Seashore State Park, contact the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum at 302-227-6991.
