Delaware Bankers Association elects, installs new officers
Geoffrey M. Rogers, managing director, Glenmede, was elected and installed May 10 as the chairman of the Delaware Bankers Association, at the DBA’s 117th Annual Meeting in Wilmington.
The DBA also elected and installed David E. Gillan, chairman and CEO, County Bank, to the position of chairman-elect. Local professional named to regional female recruiting team
Melinda R. Tingle, an Edward Jones financial advisor in Laurel, has been appointed as female recruiting leader for the firm's women's initiative in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Becker Morgan Group associate receives international recognition
Craig Williams, AIA, of Becker Morgan Group recently received the American Society of Architectural Illustrators Architecture in Perspective Award of Excellence for his 3D illustration titled “Pavilion” in the International Competition of Digital and Traditional Architectural Illustration. The ASAI's annual international competition and exhibition presents its members' extraordinary work in major venues worldwide over the course of a year. This year, Williams’ piece was selected out of the 385 entries submitted by 125 architectural illustrators representing nine countries.
Williams combines more than 15 years of architectural rendering and 3D modeling experience with the firm’s in-house graphic design department to provide clients with state-of-the-art presentation materials. In addition, the firm implements Building Information Modeling through Revit software.

Beebe Treasure Chest Thrift Shop opens on Mondays
Beebe Treasure Chest Thrift Store in the Midway Shopping Center will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays, as well as during its normal hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
The Monday evening hours will continue through June. If there is customer demand, the hours will extend until 8 p.m. and become permanent. The shop, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, has clothing and furnishing departments. It also carries a variety of small items including kitchen utensils and appliances, dinnerware, art, books, decorator items and unexpected finds.
The shop is operated by the Beebe Auxiliary and staffed by nearly 50 auxiliary volunteers who contribute thousands of hours annually to make the shop a success. All proceeds benefit Beebe Medical Center. For more information, call shop manager Pamela Coleman at 302-644-2878.
Rehoboth-Dewey chamber membership meeting May 17
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a combination Green Force and General Membership Meeting for noon, Thursday, May 17, at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth. The agenda will include a brief update on the Destination Station Center project, including presentation of the proposed interior design. The agenda will feature guest speaker Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson. Lawson will give a State of the County address and report on his progress since becoming the county administrator as well as future goals. The menu will include sautéed chicken breast piccata with capers and lemon, BBQ roast pork, penne pasta, vegetable medley and rolls and butter

Delaware Money School to host free class in avoiding probate May 21
A free class in avoiding probate will be offered to the public from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 21, at the Job Center in the Georgetown Public Library, 123 W. Pine St. The class covers avoiding probate, how to make the transition of property occur seamlessly at the time of death, without opening an estate. The sponsor, Delaware Money School, provides an experienced and qualified instructor, Samuel F. Slabaugh, certified financial planner, free of charge. This class focuses only on steps the lay person can take so assets transfer at death to the intended beneficiaries by operation of law, immediately and automatically.
The Money School is the signature program of the nonprofit Delaware Financial Literacy Institute.

Alsco linen and uniform rental acquires Linens of the Week
Linen and uniform rental service Alsco has acquired Linens of the Week, significantly expanding its services along the eastern corridor.
"This is good news for Alsco and for Linens of the Week customers, since, as a family-owned business, we report to Main Street, not Wall Street," said Steve Larson, vice president.
The purchase is the latest of three key acquisitions that Alsco has completed in the past months, expanding service in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
