Lewes resident graduates from Arcadia University

Marrisa Rose DeAngelis of Lewes was among 79 graduates who earned a doctor of physical therapy degree during Arcadia University's Commencement Ceremony in January.  DeAngelis received the degree with distinction.

As part of a required capstone project that focuses on the evidence-based practice of physical therapy, DeAngelis presented a case report poster on Comparing the Clinical Effectiveness of Arcadia Students in Four Practice Areas: Shoulder Pain, Low Back Pain, General Mobility and Acute Care. As a part of Arcadia’s promise of global perspective through study abroad experience, DeAngelis studied in Peru.

Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary offers scholarships

Local residents named to Virginia Tech's dean's list

The following local residents and students enrolled at Virginia Tech were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.4 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the semester.

Brent A. Ashley of Felton is a sophomore majoring in dairy science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Emily M. Vincent of Harrington is a senior majoring in dairy science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Margaret L. Bartley of Lewes is a freshman majoring in business in the Pamplin College of Business.

Marc P. Kosiorowski of Milford is a freshman majoring in psychology in the College of Science. Brian C. Singh of Millsboro is a sophomore majoring in biological sciences in the College of Science. Victoria L. Bunting of Milton is a junior majoring in fine arts in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. Robert J. Lingo of Milton is a senior majoring in architecture in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.

Local students named to dean's list at Lebanon Valley College

Kerri E. Bailey of Lewes, a junior psychology major, and Brent A. McDowell of Millsboro, a sophomore majoring in early childhood education and special education, have been named to the dean's list at Lebanon Valley College for the fall 2011 semester. Students on the dean's list have attained a grade point average of 3.4 or higher for the semester.

Founded in 1866, Lebanon Valley College is a four-year, private liberal arts and pre-professional school in Annville, Pa., offering 34 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, music education, physical therapy and science education.

Lindsay Cervenak of Lewes named to University of Scranton dean's list

Lindsay Cervenak of Lewes has been named to the dean's list at the University of Scranton, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2011 fall semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the dean's list. The list includes students from the Jesuit University's College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management, the Panuska College of Professional Studies and the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. More than 1,420 students were named to the fall 2011 semester dean's list.  Cervenak is a senior elementary education/early childhood education major in Scranton's Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Joshua Smith of Lewes named to dean's list at Becker College

Joshua Smith of Lewes was named to the Becker College dean's list for fall 2011.  Becker College is among the top colleges in the U.S. and Canada for video game design, as ranked by The Princeton Review, and host of the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute. Becker serves nearly 1,800 students from across the country and around the world and offers 29 diverse, first-quality degree programs that launch careers, from nursing to veterinary science, and a variety of adult learning options. Jennafer Pavlik earns perfect 4.0 for fall 2011 semester

The Communications and Marketing Department of Northern Michigan University has announced that Jennafer Pavlik of Lewes has earned dean's list honors for the fall 2011 semester, recording a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Delaware Tech Owens Campus alumni annual meeting set for June 18

The annual meeting of the Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus Alumni Association will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, June 18, in the Executive Dining Room in the Student Services Center.

Elections will be held during the meeting to fill both officer and board member positions. Officers serve a two-year term; members of the board of directors serve a three-year term.

Nominations will be accepted from the floor, and all votes must be cast in person. Anyone who was awarded a degree, diploma or certificate from Delaware Technical Community College, Owens Campus is considered a member of the alumni association and eligible to vote.

Georgetown man makes Eastern University dean's list

P. Michael Ekrich of Georgetown has achieved dean's list status at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., for the 2012 spring semester. He is majoring in exercise science and is the son of Paul and Debby Ekrich and a Sussex Central High School graduate.
