Grotto Pizza hosts Community Pizza Night Feb. 22 to benefit American Lung Association
Tidewater Utilities Inc. is teaming with Grotto Pizza to host a Community Pizza Night from 4 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at all Grotto Pizza locations in Delaware. The event will benefit the American Lung Association in Delaware.
No reservation is required. Customers should present a voucher, and an amount equal to 20 percent of their bill will be donated to the American Lung Association. The offer is valid for both dine-in and carry-out service.

Delaware Hospice offers Grief 101 workshop Feb. 23
Anyone coping with loss will benefit from the Grief 101 workshop offered by Delaware Hospice from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, at its Millsboro office, 315 Old Landing Road, Millsboro. This workshop will help participants learn about their own grief or that of a family member. The discussion topics will include What to Expect While Grieving and Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Feelings of Grief.

Alzheimer's Association announces change in support group meeting day starting March 6
The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter advises that the Caregiver Support Group at Harbor Healthcare, 301 Ocean View Blvd. in Lewes, will now meet on the first Tuesday of each month starting at 6 p.m., March 6. The meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 is unchanged. This meeting is open to the public and all are invited to attend.
There are 10 million caregivers for persons with Alzheimer’s disease in the U.S. who provide 75 percent of the care for Alzheimer’s patients, and those caregivers are not paid for their services.

The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter is offering new education programs that are free and open to the public.
Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers - Understanding Middle Stage is an all-day program, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which includes information on communicating with a person with dementia and dealing with challenging behaviors, as well as information on services that may be needed. Dr. Lawrence Kemp, neurologist, will present a medical overview at 9 a.m.
Sessions will be held March 14 at Cadia Rehabilitation Renaissance, 26002 John J. Williams Highway near Millsboro, and May 9 at Cadbury at Lewes, 17028 Cadbury Circle in Lewes. Lunch will be provided.

ELDERinfo seeks volunteers; training to take place April 2 to 4
New volunteer training for ELDERinfo, Delaware's State Health Assistance Program, will take place Monday to Wednesday, April 2 to 4, at the Delaware Insurance Department, 841 Silver Lake Boulevard, Dover. Interested citizens should contact Janae Agilo at Janae.Agilo@state.de.us or 302-674-7365.
The ELDERinfo organization helps others in the community who have questions about Medicare. Volunteers should have the ability to work with others and to provide one-on-one counseling, have good communication skills, be proficient on computer and internet, be willing to submit monthly documentation to ELDERinfo office and commit a minimum of two days a month to the ELDERinfo program. No experience is necessary.
National Alliance on Mental Illness in Delaware offers ongoing support
The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Delaware is a statewide organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by life-changing brain diseases. NAMI Delaware offers support groups in Sussex County. NAMI Connection, a weekly support group for people with mental illness, is offered from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Easter Seals Building, 22317 DuPont Blvd. (Route 113). The group is facilitated by those who are in recovery themselves. A monthly family support group occurs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway.

Depression support groups start in Sussex and Kent counties
Mental Health Association in Delaware has started new depression support groups in Kent and Sussex counties to provide a safe and comfortable environment for adults struggling with depression. Groups meet each Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in both Milford and Millsboro. Locations of the meetings are only provided to registered members. These new groups are made possible by a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware’s BluePrints for the Community program. The Mental Health Association in Delaware’s mission promotes improved mental well-being for all individuals and families in Delaware through education, support, and advocacy.
Delaware Hospice’s New Beginnings luncheons in Sussex County continue
Delaware Hospice’s New Beginnings bereavement luncheons are an informal way to meet and talk with others who have had similar loss experiences. Lunches are held every Thursday, beginning at noon. Survivors of Accident or Murder offers support at People's Place
People’s Place, in conjunction with the Mental Health Association of Delaware, is offering a monthly support group for people who have lost a family member, friend or coworker to a sudden and violent death. The Survivors of Accident or Murder support group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The meetings are free and confidential and are held at People’s Place in Milford. People's Place offers support groups for domestic violence victims
People’s Place of Milford offers support groups for women who have experienced emotional and/or physical abuse from their past or present partner. Information and support are also provided. Call 302-424-2420 for times and locations of groups. Childcare is provided at some locations. This group is a Turning Point community service and is free of charge.
Overeaters Anonymous group meets in Rehoboth
An Overeaters Anonymous 12-step program meets from 6 to 7 p.m., every Wednesday at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road north of Rehoboth Beach. A group also meets from 1 to 2 p.m., every Monday, at the Long Neck CHEER Center, 26089 Long Neck Road. The program is free; for more information, call Jack at 302-644-0441 or Bonnie at 302-945-2815.
