Eva S. Kirsche, active volunteer
Eva S. Kirsche, 89, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Bellingham Retirement Living in West Chester, Pa.
Eva was born June 17, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late George and Mabel S. Hassman Lentz. She was a full-time homemaker. Mrs. Kirsche was an active volunteer with Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital for many years. Her membership with the Milford Garden Club combined with her love of gardening at home contributed to making her a welcome addition to the group who created the silk flower arrangements sold at the hospital gift shop.
She was a member of the Milford New Century Club, the Milford Senior Center and a devoted member of Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford. Eva also enjoyed watching the many species of birds around her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Kirsche in 1996; and two brothers. She is survived by two sons, Robert M. Kirsche of Lewes, and Joseph R. Kirsche of Collegeville, Pa.; three daughters, Barbara J. Catts of Lewes, Beth L. Chambers of Penndel, Pa., and Holly M. Kershner of Wilmington; her fiancé, Charles Moran of Felton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 27, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford. Burial was held in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery in Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 625, Georgetown, DE 19947 (Checks made to Alzheimer's Assoc. Research) or to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
