Amoré Pizza offers NY-style pies in Peddlers Village

Family-run pizzeria offers brick-oven pizza, pasta, subs on Route 24.

Naahun Trinidad says the relaxed atmosphere at Peddler's Village was a welcome contrast to the hustle-and-bustle of New York City.

As general manager of Amoré Pizza, Trinidad said over the past eight years, his family has opened restaurants across the state.

Nineteen years ago, Trinidad said, his family moved from Bacole, Italy, to New York City, where the family had restaurants until they migrated to Delaware.

They now own several restaurants, including pizzerias in Millsboro and Fenwick, Trinidad said, so when they came across the current location of Amoré Pizza while vacationing in Long Neck, they decided to bring their brick-oven pizza to the growing area.

"We do New York-style pizza, which is the thin crust, and we used all brick ovens, no commercial," he said. "We moved to Long Neck because we saw an opportunity and felt it was a real good area to put up a New York style pizzeria."

The menu offers far more than just New York pizzas. With strombolis, white pizzas, salads, appetizers, subs, steaks, wraps, burgers and entrees, the tiny pizzeria offers a variety of options and catering services as well as delivery.

Lunchtime specials run daily, including a regular's favorite of two slices of pizza with a soda for $3.99. Trinidad said Amoré Pizza has been able to develop a loyal following in Long Neck since it opened nearly 18 months ago.

"We have a lot of regular customers," he said. "We are trying to stay in business with serving all the regulars."

As the weather warms, Trinidad said, the family, who makes up most his staff, is looking forward to another summer season, happy to have last years’ experience to better prepare for the summer crowds.

"Summertime is a little crazy, serving all the tourists and the regulars," Trinidad said. "This will be our second summer, so I think it will be a little better."

As one of the only employees at Amoré who is not a member of Trinidad's family, Tabitha Smith said that in the 16 months she has worked at the pizzeria, she has been taken in by the family atmosphere at the establishment.

"They treat you like you are family," Smith said.

Serving authentic food and being taken in by the surrogate family, she said she can see why the restaurant has such a loyal following.

"It's authentic, and everything is homemade. Their dough, their sauce," Smith said. "The employees are very friendly, and the food is awesome. We have regular customers that have been here since they opened and are still our customers."

Amoré Pizza is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For more information or specials, call 302-945-7300.
