AAUW, film society team up for 'The Invisible War'

By Ginger Livingston | Nov 08, 2012

The American Association of University Women sponsoring of "The Invisible War" for the 2012 Rehoboth Beach Film Festival was a perfect choice.  AAUW  is a group that works hard on many women's issues. The documentary tells the shocking stories of men and women in the military who were raped and the lack of justice for the survivors.

On a national level, AAUW has announced support for Protect Our Defenders, a group to aid active and non-active rape victims.  The group has also given funds to help continue the lawsuits filed by victims.  So far, the court's decision has been that rape is an occupational hazard of the military. AAUW Delaware sponsored the three viewings of "The Invisible War," and AAUW Coastal-Georgetown has arranged for a panel discussion on the last day of the festival.

The discussion includes survivors of military rape, their families, a George Washington University professor who taught class on "The Invisible War" and two rape counselors.

Kudos to AAUW, The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and to the men and women who serve our country.
