Adventures in Drool: Family recipe revealed

Good afternoon droolers. Since yesterday's blog brought several people to tears, I thought I would try to cheer everyone up with a delicious family recipe for peach cobbler.

Like I often say - Life is hard, that's why we have dessert. Actually, this might have been the first time I said that, but you get the point.

This peach cobbler is very easy to make. It comes from my mother's mom who was a fan of few ingredients and easy measurements. By using Bisquick, you cut out the fuss of measuring baking soda and baking powder. I noticed several piles of peaches at the grocery store last week and as they ripened on my kitchen counter, I knew peach cobbler would soon be on the menu. So make it, top it with some vanilla ice cream and enjoy the tastes of summer!


Terry Family Peachy Cobbler

Preheat over to 375.

You will need:

• 1 stick butter or margarine

• 1/2 cup milk

• 1 cup Bisquick

• 1/2 cup sugar

2-4 cups sliced peaches

(To easily peel peaches, drop them in boiling water for 5-10 seconds. Remove, cool slightly so you can handle them, and the peels just slip off. Note: I don't always peel my peaches and it still works out fine.)


Melt butter. In medium bowl, mix Bisquick, sugar and milk. Add melted butter and mix slightly. Pour into a 9x12 baking dish - or pie dish, which I prefer. Add sliced peaches on top. Do not stir them in. I also add a dusting of cinnamon on top. Bake until lightly browned, about 30-45 minutes.
