Amanda Hollis Knab, master teacher
Amanda Hollis Knab, 32, an eight-month resident of Annapolis, Md., and previously of Baltimore, Md., died Thursday, March 28, 2013.
She was born Jan. 16, 1981, in Annapolis. Amanda graduated with a bachelor's degree from Tulane University, followed by her master's in education from the University of Maryland and received a certificate of administrator and supervisor at Johns Hopkins.
Amanda was a master teacher and cultural proficiency professional, serving in the Howard County Public Schools and West Friendship Elementary School for 10 years Playing the piano, violin and harp, Amanda was also the theatrical producer at school. She enjoyed working with children, cake decorating, needlework, crafts, reading and spending time with her cat, Peanut.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Philip Knab and Ruth E. Knab of Richmond, Va.; her brother, Alexander Knab (Jennifer) of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandparents, Marilyn Leibowitz of Columbia, Md. and David Leibowitz of Chicago, Ill.; aunts, Judi Lebeaux and Roger Aleksa, Lisa Knab Baum and Thomas Baum, Karen Knab and Ralph Daruns; uncle, Peter Knab and Maryann Knab; and cousins, Ethan Baum, Jonathan Knab, Christopher Daruns, Colin Daruns, Celine Daruns.
A visitation is planned from 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, April 2, immediately followed by a funeral service at noon, at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis. Graveside service will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at Epworth Cemetery, Rehoboth.
