Another polar vortex for the Super Bowl?
I finally successfully predicted who will play in the Super Bowl this year. The Denver Broncos versus Seattle Seahawks match-up should be a very good game and worth watching. My Super Bowl analysis will be in next week's article after a few days of news on the teams and the stories that would make a difference in the possible outcome of the game.
The first playoff game between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos turned out to be a bit of a dud. New England's offense failed to show up until very late in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach. Peyton Manning was his usual amazing self completing all but six passes. For the entire game, the New England defense didn't know what hit them. The NFC game made up for the first game because of a very exciting second half which see-sawed between the Seahawks and 49ers. San Francisco could have won if not for a great play by the Seattle's Richard Sherman during the last drive of the game. His play prevented the winning touchdown for the 49er's. Unfortunately, even with all the later apologies, Sherman ruined it for himself by acting like a jerk in the postgame interviews.
In other sports news, the Australian Open Tennis Tournament is going on and there have been some big upsets on the women's side. Favorites dropping out early in the tournament are Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Asarenka. This leaves the door wide open for some new players to take the win. On the men's side, Novak Djokovic lost in a great match in the fifth set to Stanislas Wawrinka. I was really hoping he could pull off four straight titles.
Stay warm, everyone! Hopefully this is the last of the snow 'til next year!
