Argentine Tango community offers introductory classes starting Jan. 7

Source: Brian Beitzel Dancers enjoy Argentine Tango at a monthly milonga, or social dance party. Tango Lewes is offering an introductory series of lessons starting Jan. 7.

The growing Argentine Tango community in Lewes is offering a month of beginner lessons every Tuesday in January, starting Jan. 7 with a free introductory lesson and a cost of $30 for the remainder of the series.

Tango is an improvisational dance, and its foundation is connection: connection with oneself, partner, the music, and the dance community. Tango Lewes began as a way to share love of Argentine Tango and to build a community around this dance in the southern Delaware area.

The group holds two weekly practicas, or practice sessions, and has a monthly milonga, or social dance party, the last Saturday of each month at the Anita Peghini-Räber art gallery in downtown Rehoboth Beach. All are welcome to join, and no partner or prior dance experience is necessary.  Argentine tango is a social dance, and dancers change partners both in classes and in an evening of dancing.
