The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Lewes Public Library and Movies at Midway present “Clandestine Childhood” as December’s film for the Around the World series of critically acclaimed, international independent films. This film is Argentina’s submission in the 2013 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

The award-winning drama will screen at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the upstairs screening room at Movies at Midway. Admission to this film series is free and open to the public.

Set in Argentina in 1979, this historical film takes place during the period often referred to as the Dirty War. After years of exile, Juan and his family come back to Argentina under fake identities. Juan’s parents and his uncle Beto are members of the Montoneros Organization, which is fighting against the military junta that rules the country. Juan and his family are being tracked down relentlessly due to their political involvement, and the threat of capture and death is constant.

However, Juan's daily life is full of warmth and humor, and his friends at school know him as Ernesto, a name he must not forget in order to survive. This is a true story about militancy and undercover life, love and a clandestine childhood.
