Artist makes Lewes debut Aug. 2 with new show at Treasures
Watercolor and acrylic artist Rana Ryan will make her Lewes debut with a new show, My Little Beach Town, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, at Treasures, 116 Second St. in Lewes.
The show, a collection of more than 30 watercolors, is a retrospective of how Ryan fell in love with the area and decided on the spot that she had to make her home in Lewes. In her Delaware debut, she features and celebrates the sights of Cape Henlopen State Park - Herring Point, the rocks, beach, sand and sky. Ryan captures the seasons and the different times of day, adding a touch of bright colors in her paintings.
While pursuing her art career in the Pittsburgh area, Ryan has had many awards and achievements. She won the poster contest for the 2010 Three Rivers Arts Festival and was featured in the 2012 exhibit and book, “Pittsburgh by Pittsburgh Artists.” She contributed her art to support A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, an organization that raises funds to further breast cancer research in premenopausal women. She was the only watercolor/acrylic artist to be featured in a photography show about 50 well-known area professionals in the arts, and she has in recent years exhibited in several Pittsburgh-area shows, both group and solo.
