Autism Delaware sets ribbon-cutting for new Sussex office April 29

Apr 14, 2014

Autism Delaware will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the agency’s new Sussex County office at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 29. The public will be able to see the new space at 17517 Nassau Commons Blvd. Unit 1, in Lewes. Refreshments and tours will be available a half-hour before and after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The phone number at the new office remains 302-644-3410, and Autism Delaware will continue to provide a range of family support, vocational and clinical services as well as awareness and advocacy at both the state and local levels.

“We offer a wide range of programs and services,” said Autism Delaware Executive Director Teresa Avery. “The nature of autism spectrum disorder is that no two diagnoses are alike. We like to say, if you know one person with autism, you know one person with autism.

“Did you know,” added Avery, “that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently upped the prevalence rate to one in 68? To continue growing our services and supports, this new office in Lewes gives us the space we need to expand both staff and volunteer efforts."
