Award-winning documentary, 'The Ghosts in Our Machine,' to screen June 13

Film producer and photojournalist to appear in Rehoboth
May 09, 2014

The Delaware premiere of the critically acclaimed documentary, “The Ghosts in Our Machine,” will take place at 8 p.m., Friday, June 13, at The Atlantic Sands Hotel, 101 N. Boardwalk, as a featured event of the Rehoboth Beach VegFest weekend.

Filmmaker Liz Marshall and protagonist/photographer Jo-Anne McArthur will attend and participate in an audience Q&A following the screening.

Tickets are $10 each at the door;  advance sales online are $10 plus $1 handling charge.

“Ghosts” illuminates the plight of animals rescued from and living within the machine of the modern world, from captive foxes to rescued dairy cows.

Marshall directs this visually arresting documentary through the heart and lens of photojournalist McArthur. The film follows her over the course of a year as she documents several animal stories in parts of Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Each story and photograph is a window into global animal industries: food, fashion, entertainment, and biomedical research.

This screening is the inspiration and vision of Salisbury, Md. resident Kimberly Roemer, a professional accountant and longtime animal advocate who has been the driving force behind this film screening.

"It was a passion of mine.  Because of the importance and powerful transformative nature of 'The Ghosts in Our Machine,' I simply felt compelled to bring it to our area for people to see," she said.
