Beebe Healthcare to hold Community Conversation on Dignity at the End of Life Feb. 11

Jan 23, 2014

Decisions made at the end of life can be difficult for families and loved ones and often lead to arguments, hurt feelings and even damaged relationships. On the other hand, fruitful and engaging conversations that inspire respect and understanding of one another can prepare everyone for what the future brings.

Beebe Healthcare will present a unique forum, Community Conversation on Dignity at End of Life Care,  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the CHEER Community Center, 20520 Sand Hill Road in Georgetown.

Jeffrey M. Fried, FACHE, president and CEO of Beebe Healthcare, will welcome attendees and facilitate a panel discussion of representatives from the medical, legal, spiritual, and wellness and community support professions.

“This community conversation will be a venue to share thoughts and concerns about end of life, and to ideally open the doors for future dialogue,” said Keith Goheen, chaplain at Beebe Healthcare. “We hope that we will be able to give people some support and help in making the best choices in regard to their own ethics and beliefs as they approach end-of-life issues.”

A light lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in attending is welcome. Reservations are requested. To reserve or for more information, call Beebe Healthcare’s Patient Experience Department at 302-645-3300, Ext. 5367.

Beebe Healthcare offers services throughout southern Delaware including a 210-licensed-bed hospital, a cancer center and outpatient facilities at multiple sites providing lab, imaging, physical rehab services and walk-in care. For more information, go to www.beebehealthcare.org.
