Betty J. Kellicutt, rabbit breeder
Betty J. Kellicutt, 70, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was born in Endicott, N.Y., Dec. 4, 1943, daughter of the late Ward and Bertha (Corsen) Eldred.
Mrs. Kellicutt was originally from New York State where she enjoyed a long career with the Amphenol Cadre Electronics in Endicott. After her career with Amphenol, she became the owner and operator of MJ's Deli in Maine, N.Y. for many years. Following her relocation to Auburn, Pa., Mrs. Kellicutt turned her love for raising rabbits into a reality. She became a breeder, showing and selling her rabbits throughout the East coast. Mrs. Kellicutt won countless awards for her rabbits at numerous shows. She became a director with the Delmarva Rabbit Club, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs. Kellicutt was a strong supporter and volunteer for numerous pet organizations and pet rescues in the area. She was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, Eastern State Flemish Rabbit Association and the Delaware Animal Disaster Service.
Mrs. Kellicutt was an avid gardener who also enjoyed spending time fishing and traveling with her husband, Donald. Her favorite location to travel to was St. Thomas, Virgin Island. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, dear friend and a wonderful caretaker of her adored pets.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kellicutt was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Rossen in 1989; and a daughter, Rachel Rossen-Goz in 2010. She is survived by her second husband of 22 years, Donald W. Kellicutt; a daughter, Sarah Remp and her husband Robert Jr. of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Draven and Skylar Remp; her two canine companions, Figgy and Star; and her many beloved rabbits.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, Georgetown.
