Sussex Technical High School congratulates business, finance and marketing seniors Devin Deloach and Jenna Stevens, BFM junior Tyler Butler, and BFM sophomore Emily Nichols for winning the inaugural Diamond Entrepreneurial Challenge April 18 at the University of Delaware sponsored by the Horn Program of Entrepreneurship. The team was required to write a five-page business concept that was submitted in February to advance to a preliminary round where they pitched their idea. The business concept  was Raven Eyes, the school photography store. They received $500 as a team by advancing to the final round.

Forty-two teams made the preliminary round that was held in each county March 20. Twelve teams advanced to the final round. One team from Kenya, Africa, eventually placed second in the competition and was awarded $5,500.

Sussex Tech BFM students won the top prize of $7,500. An additional $1,500 in bonus prize money was awarded throughout the competition, bringing in a total of $9,000. The students each received $1,000 in scholarship money. Frank Makray, as Diamond Challenge advisor and BFM instructor, was awarded $500. The BFM technical area will also receive $4,500.
