BioShock Infinite: Ultimate Songbird Edition review
It's very rare that I review a collector's edition of a game. In fact, this is the first time I've ever done it. That's because this is the best collector's edition I have ever purchased.
• Songbird statue
The Songbird statue alone is worth the $150, in my opinion. It is hand painted and was designed by Robb Waters, a concept artist at Irrational Games. It's quite large, standing at 9.75" tall with a wingspan of 13". It's definitely a must-have for any hardcore BioShock Infinite fan.
• Art book
Included in the Ultimate Songbird Edition is this amazing art book, which is a mini-edition of the one coming out April 9, both published by Dark Horse Books. It is 64 pages and includes early designs, concept art, and more. This is a great book for those interested in learning more about the unique art style of Infinite.
• Lithographic print
You will find this exact advertisement for the "Devil's Kiss" vigor on the streets of Columbia while playing the game. It was designed by Jorge Lacera, concept artist at Irrational Games. This will look great on any Infinite fan's wall.
• Handyman board game figure
You can use this Handyman figure in the upcoming BioShock Infinite board game, BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia. With the Handyman on your side, you'll be good to go.
• Murder of Crows keychain
This is a pretty awesome keychain. It's a 3-D, scaled-down version of the Murder of Crows vigor. It is hand-painted, just like the statue.
• Digital soundtrack
Also included in this collector's edition is a code to download the digital version of the BioShock Infinite soundtrack. This is exclusive to the Premium and Ultimate Songbird Editions of the game. This is one of the best game soundtracks you can own. It is a full soundtrack, 28 tracks, and each and every one is magnificent.
• Three exclusive Gear power-ups
And yet another reward for buying this collector's edition: three Gear power-ups. The first one, "Bull Rush," gives you a chance to knock the enemy down when you use a melee strike while sprinting. The second, "Extra! Extra!," awards you with Silver Eagles (in-game currency) when you collect Voxophones, or audio logs. The final power-up, "Betrayer," causes your possessed enemies to explode in a fireball when killed. These power-ups really come in handy, especially when playing on Hard or 1999 mode.
• Downloadable content
And last, but not least, Xbox 360 players will receive the Booker and Elizabeth costumes for their avatar, and PlayStation 3 and PC players will receive a theme.
All of this for $150; it's really not a bad price to pay for all of this amazing stuff if you're a fan of BioShock Infinite. There were limited quantities of these made, so get yours as soon as possible if you really want it! I'm sure we will see these going on Ebay for hundreds of dollars in the near future.
