Bridgeville traffic stop leads to drug arrests
Three Sussex County men face drug charges after police say they stopped the car they were traveling in and found heroin.
A trooper patrolling the area near Coverdale Road and Hastings Farm Road at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 10 observed a Dodge Intrepid that failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The trooper activated his lights and pulled the car over at which time the driver fled on foot, Fournier said.
The trooper detained the three occupants until back up officers arrived; a search of the car uncovered 130 bags of heroin weighing 1.95 grams. Passenger Keion Sturgis, 22, of Dagsboro was found with 18 oxycodone pills in his sock that were not prescribed to him, Fournier said.
Also arrested were Tywand M. Jennings, 25, of Frankford and Delane Jacobs, 27, of Selbyville. They face drug possession charges, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sturgis was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $7,500 secured bond; Jennings on $9,500 unsecured and a $500 secured bond for a Bethany Beach Alderman Court capias; and Jacobs on $3,400 secured bond.
