Business hit by Hurricane Sandy steps up as Nouveau Beaujolais event Red Cross sponsor25th annual wine tasting Dec. 3 in Lewes will benefit American Red Cross
Financial Services Inc. of New Jersey, a financial institution service provider with customers in Delaware and 45 other states, has stepped forward as the primary sponsor of the 25th Anniversary Annual Nouveau Beaujolais Wine Tasting to benefit the American Red Cross. The event is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Lewes Irish Eyes.
Senior Vice President of Sales Dave Schunke said, “Living and working in New Jersey, we saw firsthand with Hurricane Sandy what can happen to a community in a disaster. The American Red Cross was there - and has always been there - to provide help to Americans. We are proud to do our part to help ensure that the Delmarva Chapter will be there for our friends on the peninsula.”
Event Chair Shannon McGinn of Community Bank Delaware, also a longtime sponsor of the wine tasting, said, “We are so thrilled to have FSI signed on. They have supported us before, and their support has been a big part of the event’s success.”
The Wine Tasting, founded by local realtors and Irish Eyes owners Jim and Veronica "Ronnie" Kiernan, has evolved into a locals’ favorite. “It is a come-as-you are, after-work party with great wine, food donated by the best restaurants in the area, live music, hundreds of silent auction bargains and a fun live auction. And it gets better every year,” says Kiernan, a co-chair. “This year we have improved and speeded up our checkout process, added a champagne toast and new restaurants. It’s going to be awesome.”
The wine tasting will feature the 2013 Nouveau Beaujolais wine provided by Atlantic Liquors, which has been a sponsor of the event for many years. Food is provided by more than 30 local restaurants, and hundreds of items are donated for the silent auction.
This year’s live auction, hosted by Butch Emmert, president of Emmert Auction Associates, also a longtime supporter of the event, will feature celebrity auctioneers like City of Lewes Mayor Jim Ford state Rep. Dave Wilson, R-Bridgeville; and Rep. Steve Smyk, R-Milton; Highway One owner Alex Pires Jr.; and Steve Rose, Nanticoke Health Systems president and CEO.
