Canary Creek resident voices concerns

By Ken Sosne | Jul 04, 2014

The following letter was sent to Lewes city officials with a copy submitted tothe Cape Gazette for publication.

As a homeowner in the new Canary Creek subdivision I understand that you will be taking up the question regarding the Harbor Point development and annexation into the City of Lewes.

I understand that progress is the price we pay for living in an ideal place with climate, beauty and all the things that make Lewes special.

As you consider the Harbor Point annexation and build I want to ensure that Canary Creek stays true to the original master plan and that no new roads or access are cut through the Canary Creek development. With the redevelopment of Park Road I want to stress that using Park Road alone as the egress to Harbor Point would be best for all.

In addition, as you consider Harbor Point requiring an additional tree stand and buffer between the two developments would protect both Harbor Point and Canary Creek. Such a buffer would add to beauty that is Lewes, help with water issues and mitigate any noise.

I ask that this be added to the public comment file as you consider the annexation. I truly would prefer if the development cut a new road to Coastal Highway direct but realize that one needs to compromise.

I thank you for your time and again want to ask that you consider the existing 102 Canary Creek homeowners that purchased with the understanding that there would be open space and no additional traffic through our neighborhood.
