Lewes — The Cape baseball team welcomed Wilmington Christian to Chris Short Field March 9 for its only scheduled scrimmage this preseason. The Vikings lost four seniors from last year's squad that posted a 9-9 record and return a solid core of talented players in Diaz Nardo, Cody Dmiterchik and Griffin Kammerer. Taking over the manager position this season for Dave Doherty is Ben Evick, who begins his second stint as coach at Cape.

Cape opens the season Saturday, March 23, at home against Caravel Academy, which lost to Milford in the semifinals of last year's state tournament.
