Cape boys' lacrosse started out strong, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and didn't let up as the No. 2-ranked Vikings defeated Wilmington Friends School 16-1 May 13 at Legends Stadium.

Blake Mann scored four goals and had an assist in the contest. Justin Lopez and Luke Benson rocked the twine for three goals each as Thomas Ott, Nate Katurakes, James Ashby, Todd Keen, Jeb Monigle, and Will Clampitt each scored once.

Michael Hopkins assisted on three goals while Keen, Sean Lally and Kyle Orton each helped on one goal.

"We won the ground balls early in the game," said assistant coach Mark D'Ambrogi. "The team was patient on our possessions and shot the ball well, forcing them out of their zone defense."

The Vikings took a 13-0 score into halftime and scored three in the second half.

"As the game went on, we continued to make the extra passes that led to a lot of our goals," said D'Ambrogi.

The Vikings outshot the Quakers 33-11 with Cape goalies Grant Gillan and Chris Argo having four and one stops, respectively. Jacob Katzen made eight stops for the Quakers.
