The Cape Henlopen boys' lacrosse team moved to 8-2 on the season with an impressive 49-shot and 19-goal offensive display over Polytech (6-4) April 30.

"We did a good job winning face-offs and ground balls," said Cape coach Jack Lingo. "We were very unselfish and moved the ball well on offense and created turnovers on defense."

Blake Mann continued to rack up the points with five goals and two assists. Todd Keen tallied four goals and four assists, while Luke Benson scored three goals and two helpers. Justin Lopez ripped the twine with three goals, while Kyle Orton and Sean Lally each had two scores.

Michael Hopkins had three assists, while Jeb Monigle and Thomas Ott each had one assist.

"Most goals were assisted," said assistant coach Mark D'Ambrogi. "That means we're getting open and finding the open man."

A tough Cape defense allowed just 17 shots and kept the Panthers to just four goals.

"Our defense has been playing really strong since the win over St. John's," said Cape goalie Grant Gillan. "They haven't allowed many shots on cage, and the ones that have been coming in have been easy stops."

Vikings goalies Grant Gillan and Chris Argo stopped eight and four shots, respectively. Polytech's Thomas Bailey stopped 15 Vikings shots.

"We are playing well right now and improving every game," said Lingo.

The Vikings travel to Dover Friday, May 2, to play the Senators in a Northern Division contest.
