In a rain-soaked final tune-up for the regular season March 19, the Cape Henlopen boys' lacrosse team played host to Stephen Decatur. The Vikings outscored the Seahawks 12-8, but they weren't satisfied with just a four-point advantage in the scrimmage.

"I thought we played well at times," said assistant coach Mark D'Ambrogi. "But we need to correct some things before the first game."

"We started slow," said senior attackman Luke Benson. "But we came on later in the scrimmage. A lot of our 12 goals were assisted, and that's a big thing for our offense."

Cape goalie Grant Gillian, who was credited with 12 saves, thought the defense improved as the scrimmage progressed.

"We did a little ball watching early on, but the defense started talking and made their offense take off-balanced shots."

"We were quiet in the first quarter," said long pole defenseman Thomas Ott. "As the scrimmage went on, our defensive matchups worked out, and we played tough Cape defense."

The Vikings will travel to Potomac, Md., Saturday, March 22, for a matchup with the Bullis School.
