Cape girls' soccer gets balanced scoring in 4-0 win over Knights

Cape junior midfielder Mallory McDonald scored two goals as the Vikings moved to 8-3-1 with a 4-0 shutout of the Golden Knights May 6 at Cape's second turf field.

Shelby Thomas scored first for the Lady Vikes at 4;21 unassisted, and McDonald followed up with a helper from Thomas at 8:44 into the first half. Maddie Smith ripped the twine at 26:33 with an assist by Joanne Garcia to close out the first half of play.

McDonald ended the Cape scoring with a goal from Stephanie Mendez at 62:58.

The Vikings took 11 shots on goal to the Knights' 2. Vikings goalkeeper Olivia Barratto stopped two Golden Knights shots in the contest.
