Cape Henlopen park offers family programs Oct. 12 and 13
Cape Henlopen State Park is offering a variety of interesting programs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13.
A Geocaching Treasure Hunt begins at 11 a.m., Saturday. This fun family activity combines GPS technology with an old-fashioned scavenger hunt. The park will provide the GPS units and plenty of information on geocaching in state parks. This program is intended for ages 7 and older with a paying adult. There is a fee of $2 per person, and the program meets at the Seaside Nature Center.
Space is limited, and preregistration is required; call 302-645-6852. One lucky attendee will win two free tickets to the Children’s Fantasy Trail Oct. 25-27.
At 4 p.m. is a hayride. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Seaside Nature Center starting at 9 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 12. Space is limited. Each ticket is $5, and there is a limit of six tickets per person. The hayride is intended for ages 7 and older with a paying adult.
Park staff will lead a hike starting at 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, through fresh and salt water wetlands. This program meets at the Seaside Nature Center and is free to attend. Preregistration is recommended; call 302-645-6852.
The Seaside Nature Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Borrow-A-Bike program is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Park entrance fees are in effect. For more information go to destateparks.com.
