Cape High book fair a success

By Sue McKone | Mar 23, 2013

Cape Henlopen High School ended its first Scholastic Book Fair on a positive note! We sold more than $2,000 in books and will receive almost $1,200 in free books for teachers’ classroom collections and for the library.

I attribute the success of the book fair to the efforts of our teachers who talked about the fair or who brought the students to browse. I also appreciate the support from the administrators who allowed me to set up at the entrance to the school in the Rotunda. I also owe the custodians a big “thanks” for setting up and taking down the tables and chairs that were needed and used during the book fair.

I would especially like to thank Eve Aldred from the PTO for her efforts to enlist others to help me set up and run the book fair. Without these parents of Cape students, I would have been very limited and therefore not as successful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Phillip Ward, Shannon Sugrue, Rebecca Lowe, Cynthia Campbell, Kelli Meoli, Terri Gooch, Ingrid Miller, Constance Dorsey and Jackie Dorney. You were amazing and great with the students as well as the books!

I hope that we are equally successful at our next book fair that is scheduled May 20-24. This will give students the opportunity to purchase books for their required summer reading. The book fair will be a BOGO (Buy One Get One) for the students and will make choosing books fun and affordable!
