Cape High gearing up for Rachel’s Challenge Oct. 10

Oct 04, 2013
Come hear the inspiring true story about one girl’s dream to change the world Thursday, Oct. 10, at Cape Henlopen High School.

AT&T Foundation, Cape Henlopen Education Foundation and Cape Henlopen High School Friends of Cape will be hosting Rachel’s Challenge Thursday, Oct. 10, at Cape Henlopen High School.

All 1,300 students in grades 9-12 will participate in an assembly during school hours. A community event will take place the same day at 6 p.m., in the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre. Recommended audience is 6th grade and up.

Rachel’s Challenge exists to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness and compassion. Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott who was the first victim of the Columbine school shootings in 1999. Through her example, Rachel’s Challenge is making a positive impact in the lives of millions of people every year.

Rachel’s inspiring story provides a simple, yet powerful example of how small acts of kindness and acceptance motivate people to consider their relationships with the people they come in contact with every day. Rachel’s Challenge renews hope that life has meaning and purpose. Rachel’s story gives people permission to start their own chain reaction of kindness and compassion, which positively affects the climate in schools and communities.
