Cape has played a Monday afternoon junior varsity football game at Caesar Rodney every other year for the past 40, and it's safe to say the Vikings have lost most of them. The Riders have always fielded a cohesive junior varsity squad, and they run the wing-T better than some high school teams.

On Sept. 30, Cape trailed in the second quarter 12-8 when Rasheed Woods, the athlete better known as Lulu, caught a short touchdown pass from Learris Griffin, also known as RG4, to bring the Vikings to 14-12. Cape then rolled up 16 unanswered points, shutting the Riders offense down in the second half.

Griffin and Woods had the help of a stable of skilled people including Brent Reed, Michael Hopkins, William Webb, Briley Brooks and others.

Cape is now 4-0 on the season and will play at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, at Dover.

A football player is able to play five quarters a week on either a varsity or JV squad. Special teams don't count in the tally.
