The Cape Henlopen girls' lacrosse team was all over the struggling Saints Peter and Paul Sabres of Easton, Md., April 18, at Champions Stadium, leading 13-3 at halftime before throttling down for a 20-5 victory. The Vikings are now 7-0 on the season.

After holding off visiting Holy Cross 9-8 in the opening game of the season, Cape has outscored opponents by 87 goals.

‘We’re moving into the hard part of the schedule with Saint Andrew's coming in here on Thursday night [April 25], then we have Worcester on April 30 and Queen Anne’s County on May 4," coach P.J. Kesmodel told his team after the game.

Saint Andrew’s has been a state finalist in Delaware three of the last four years while Worcester 9-1 and Queen Anne’s County 6-0-1 are a combined 15-1-1.

“We are looking forward to playing these good teams,” Kesmodel said. ‘We have players who have been in lots of big games; it all helps us get ready for the state tournament.”

Cape was led in scoring versus Peter and Paul by Anna Frederick with 6, Karalyn Joseph 4, Sarah Tappan 3, Allie Yeager and Jordan Brown 2 while Sara Young, Lizzie Frederick and Kat Judge each had 1.

Assists for Cape were made by Young, Amanda Smith, Yeager, Tappan and Lizzie Frederick.

Sam Broadhurst had 8 saves.

Goals by the Sabres came from Shelby Lehman 2 and single goals by McKenna Mann, Sarah Paul and Taylor Quade.

Cape plays at Dover at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, then will host Saint Andrew's at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 25.
