The Cape Henlopen girls' lacrosse team started its second midfield against Wilmington Friends April 12 at Wesley College and mixed and matched players on attack.  And with close to 10 minutes left in a 25-minute first half, the Vikings were in Spread Red offense,  running the clock with a 14-2 lead.

Cape went on to an easy 19-2 victory, improving to 5-0 on the season, but the "what’s up” portion of the season is about to begin.

Cape plays at 4-0 Polytech Tuesday, April 16, and the Vikings are not taking the Panthers lightly. “I know some of their players well.  They played in the Eastern Shore summer league team, and they are very athletic,” coach P.J. Kesmodel said.

“Like I’ve been saying, I think we’re pretty good, but we are still learning who we are. Sam Broadhurst has been what we’ve expected in goal, and after our 9-8 opening win against Holy Cross, we’ve won four games and given up a total of 11 goals, the most being four in any one game.”

Cape was paced in scoring against Friends by Kat Judge, Allie Yeager and Jordan Brown, each with 3;  Sara Young, Sarah Tappan and Lexi Woodruff  with 2 and single goals by Anna Frederick, Karalyn Joseph, Riley Wagner and Lizzie Frederick.

Cape assists were Yeager 3, A. Frederick 2, Tappan 2, Joseph 1, Judge 1, Wagner 1, Brown 1 and L. Frederick 1.

Goals by the Quakers came from Grayton Downing and Molly Harper.
