Cape lax ladies cruise to Crown Center for Sunday showdownsSussex Sports shut down after two inches of snow
The roads were clear from Cape to the Crown Center in Fruitland, Md. as the Cape-connected teams all showed up Jan. 27, following a long weekend where Delaware had shut down all sports because of two inches of snow.
The Cape team, composed of juniors and seniors, played games at 10 and 11 a.m. The Vikings squad of sophomores played at 1 and 2 p.m. And the Little Vikings, a team of all freshman, played games at 4 and 5 p.m.
The Cape teams play a pair of games every other weekend in the winter, mostly to work on catching, throwing and shooting.
The scoreboard is sometimes on and at other times dark. There is an abundance of goals scored and everyone has a shoulder-shrug attitude about final outcomes; the real season of lacrosse begins March 1.
