Cape went off in the semifinal round of the DIAA girls' lacrosse tournament, running the mercy clock on Ursuline Academy in the first half, leading 15-2 at intermission.

“I wasn’t expecting such a dominating performance," coach P.J. Kesmodel said. “All our athletes played hard and played well."

Cape closed out Ursuline 23-3 and will play Charter at Dover High School at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 22 for the state championship.

Cape played with a running clock and went spread red - hold the ball and don't shoot - for the final eight minutes of the game.

“We get Charter, whom we haven’t played this year, in the state title game Thursday,” Kesmodel said. "One more practice and one more game and hopefully state title number six. That has been the quest since we walked off the field last season."

Jordan Brown led Cape's scoring with 5, followed by Kat Judge with 4, Allie Yeager 3, Sarah Tappan 3, Tess Bernheimer 2, Karalyn Joseph 1, Lizzie Frederick 1 and Katie Klabe 1. Assists came from Lizzie Frederick with 3 and Alison Palmer with 2 as Maggie Delp, Karissa LeMaire, Yeager, Tappan, Lexi Woodruff, Bernheimer and Cam Wick each contributed 1.

Ursuline goals came from Brooke Schmeusser, Laura Huff and Erin Joyce. Joyce and Madeline Hughes had assists.

The Vikings outshot the Raiders 32-9. Goalie Erin Davis had 9 saves for the Raiders while Sam Broadhurst had 4 saves for Cape.
