Cape swim teams win over Easton; girls remain undefeated
The Cape Henlopen High School girls' swim team went from the sickbed to the pool and remained undefeated with an 87-83 win over Easton High School of Maryland Feb. 5.
"We have quite a few swimmers that have been out sick," said Viking head coach Bill Geppert. "It was a close meet without our normal depth."
Winners for Cape were Elana Campbell in the 200 freestyle with a 2:21.13; and Colleen Bailey, Elana Campbell, Barbara Dobrzanska and Sarah Koon in the 220 freestyle relay with a 1:58.11.
The boys moved to 9-1 on the season with a 114-53 win over Easton.
Winners for the boys were Jack Weeks, Charlie Burton, Nate Griffith and Nick DiGuglielmo in the medley relay with a 1:52.14; Danny Myers in the 200 freestyle with a 2:07.31; Jack Weeks in the 200 individual medley with a 2:06.69; Nick DiGuglielmo in the 50 free with a 23:86; and Charlie Burton in the 100 butterfly with a 1:03.21.
Andrew Hynes, John Dean, Luke DiGuglielmo and Nick Conrad took top honors in the 200 free medley with a 1:44.22. Jack Weeks followed with a win in the 100 backstroke in 59:18, and Charlie Burton won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.12.
The Vikings will host Sussex Central Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Sussex Family YMCA.
