Cape track boys improve dual-meet record to 9-1Conference championships at Dover May 9-10
Matt Lindell is that guy, the Teacher Man of social studies, the guy who was needed to put the Cape track boys back into the conversation for conference and state championships.
Lindell is coming off Coach of the Year honors from the indoor season and is also an elected member of the Dover school board, whatever that's all about.
With one quad meet left on May 6, the Vikings are a lead-pipe cinch to pick up three more wins and go 12-1.
And the Riders of Caesar Rodney, coming off the school's first indoor state title and undefeated dual-meet season, are prohibitive favorites to stay in front of Cape at the conference and state championships.
But Cape has some serious quality in the jumps and could stack major points in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, and will be in the mix in the relays.
"If I were another coach I'd be worried about us," LIndell said. "Eighteen events plus trials in a big meet - crazy stuff always happens."
