Cape volleyball wins sixth straight match, beats Sussex Central 3-1

The Cape Henlopen surging and striking volleyball team beat Sussex Central 3-1 on the road Oct. 4, running its consecutive match victory streak to six. The loss in the first game to the Golden Knights 25-20 was the first game lost in a match in 15 straight games.

The Vikings responded by taking the next three games 25-22, 25-13 and 25-9 to run their record to 6-2 on the season.

The Vikings hosted Red Lion Christian Oct. 5 and will face Indian River at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9.

The big challenge comes Thursday, Oct. 11, when Cape travels to Caesar Rodney. The Riders are currently 7-1 and have dominated play in the Henlopen Conference over the last 10 years.

Cape was paced in the Central match by Kadijah Doughty with 13 kills and 14 digs, Juli Kyritsis 9 kills and 20 digs, Hailee Gooch 11 kills, Rosa Mendez 10 digs, Briana Marsico 18 digs and Kristin Perkinson 17 digs and 21 assists.
