New stories and members' offers update this site continually.

You'll notice that the front page is divided into three columns: (l-r) Learn, Share and Shop.

Learn, the left column, is all the news that goes through our newspaper system, from bylined stories to obituaries. All items start at the top, and are pushed down the column by more recent posts coming in. The stories then migrate to their respective sections, such as cape life, business, faith etc.

Share, the middle column, is full of briefs submitted by our iMembers and bizMembers. Cancellations, bulletin board type postings are slotted here. It's also the place for readers to post their stories.

Shop, on the right, offers daily specials from our bizMembers, the up-to-date, easy-to use calendar, and the latest real estate listings.


MEMBERSHIP

An iMember allows a reader to submit discussions, events, blogs, stories and photos. The full archive is available to search, and emailed news alerts are offered. This costs $25.00 a year, or is complimentary with a subscription to the printed paper. Commenting on stories is an important means for the public to feed back, so that makes this investment practically a civic duty!

A bizMember has a microsite on our site, receives a listing in the Business Directory, has a banner ad which appears throughout our site, receives reports on hits, and may post briefs and offers, comments, blogs, bulletins, discussions, events, stories and photos. This Membership costs $25.00 a week. Posting daily offers is a big plus from this investment.

An orgMember is the same as a bizMember, except that it is $10.00 a week and is offered to nonprofits: schools, churches, etc. Posting upcoming events and beaming out important information, such as school closings, is a major reason to become an orgMember.


DEFINITIONS

Blog - If you are an iMember or a bizMember, you may have your own blog.

Brief - For bizMembers - The Brief is for news and information about your company, your industry or your employees. For example: transfers, promotions, hirings, awards, a new facility, or a new contract. Cape Gazette reserves the right to change a Brief to an Offer if the content does not comply with the above statement or if it is more a sales offer than sharing information.

Bulletin - Is posted by an orgMember - closed, delayed, dismissed, cancelled

Discussion - iMembers and bizMembers can post a running discussion

Event - an entry to the calendar. All Members can post an event.

Member story - A story like one a reporter writes only written by a Cape Community Mmber

Offer - An Offer is for promoting a product or service purchase to encourage a viewer to do busine$$ with you. For example: special sale prices, menu specials, new services or product offerings, ticket purchases and fundraising benefits. It appears on the right hand side of the website.
