Carol A. Virnelli, Goshen member

Carol A. Virnelli, 75, a native Delawarean, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H. Born in Wilmington, March 31, 1937, she lived in several states and countries before again settling in her home state. In 2009 she relocated to New Hampshire to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Carol enjoyed a long career providing excellent customer service in the hospitality industry, working until age 71. She was also self-employed until her death as a tax preparer, priding herself in providing affordable service to her many individual and corporate clients.

She was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Milton and previously Salem United Methodist Church in Newark, both of which provided a spiritual anchor for her. She was active in the choir, Sunday school and other children’s ministries, the pastor-parish council and other functions.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, H. Wayne and Mary Abbott; her husband Thomas Virnelli; and siblings Roy and James Abbott and Evelyn Doughten. She is survived by a son, Charles Madden and his wife Dolores of Florida; and a daughter, Kimberly Hutto and her husband Rex of New Hampshire; grandchildren Joshua Madden of Oklahoma and Jonathan and Charles Madden of Florida, Aaron Hutto and Benjamin Hutto of New Hampshire, Christina Hutto of Ohio and Kenneth Hutto of Maine; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Laura Abbott and Lois DiTeodoro of Delaware and Jane Lines of New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2 at Goshen United Methodist Church, 103 Mulberry St., Milton, conducted by the Revs. Dianne Henry and Rex Hutto. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private.
