Caswell supporters receive a response
I never imagined my little old letter to the editor would stir up Mr. Caswell's fan club!
Believe me, after being a bartender in this area for many years, I am not a prude or sourpuss. I have seen a lot of you upstanding citizens at your worst.
Frank, I am well aware of Mr. Caswell's good deeds as a local businessperson, which further makes my point. Why would a man of his stature in the community think it is so wonderful to pose almost nude in a full-page picture for everyone besides his wife to see? And Frank, I did use the words "I think" before I expressed my opinion. You did not use these words when you called me a jealous, selfish person.
This wasn't the case when you came to my door soliciting my vote. As far as donating to St. Jude, I am a regular donator to them. Sorry I am not in the same class a Harry as a donator, but then I give what I can afford.
As for volunteering, I did volunteer work probably before you were born. This also proves another point. My letter from a poor working senior citizen took a month to be printed, but boy, money talks. It only took one week for Mr. Caswell's troops to get printed!
Now guys, we have all had our say, can we just put the subject to rest?
Editor's Note: Due to space constraints, the original letter was not printed as soon as it was processed into our system. The letter was, however, posted online on March 4.
