Claire Snyder-Hall, a Democratic candidate for Delaware Senate District 6, kicked off her campaign March 6 at Fish On restaurant at the Villages of Five Points in Lewes. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, who introduced Snyder-Hall, and Sussex County Clerk of the Peace John Brady.

Snyder-Hall's campaign is focused on helping improve the quality of life and enhance the economic balance for all Sussex County residents, but she is particularly interested in seniors. Her sensitivity to seniors is driven by her own firsthand experience.

“Losing my father to Alzheimer’s in 2012 and now caring for my 86-year-old mother, who is losing her vision and facing an array of health issues, seeing her fiercely independent spirit and her desire to age in place - those experiences have profoundly affected me. So when I was asked to run for the Delaware State Senate, I decided to take up that challenge, because being elected to the General Assembly will give me the opportunity to really advocate for seniors in this district,” Snyder-Hall said.

Many of those in attendance came out in support of Snyder-Hall after meeting her during her active door-to-door campaign. The crowd responded enthusiastically to her speech, which emphasized a more coordinated approach to development and called for increased efforts to bring more qualified doctors and dentists to the region, building and maintaining a strong public school system, creating more quality year-round jobs, and broadening transportation options.

“That talk was spot-on,” said Betty Deacon of Lewes, “Claire hit all the right notes.”

Patti Cleary agreed, “It is inspiring to feel the genuine momentum in this room and know it will extend well beyond,” she said.
