Clean Cut Grooming opens at Dawn's Country MarketAfter 20 years, Pezely ready for her own shop
MIlton — Kim Pezely loves animals.
Raised on a farm, she said spending time with animals feels natural.
"I grew up on a farm, and animals were always just a part of my life," Pezely said.
But after working nearly 20 years as a groomer, her employers at the last place she worked closed up shop, leaving her without a job.
That could have been a major blow to her livelihood, but Pezely didn't have time to be nervous or scared. Instead, she got busy. After acquiring equipment from her former place of employment, she opened her own business, Clean Cut Grooming, Jan. 16, in the complex at Dawn's Country Market.
"At first, I didn't think the shop was going to be big enough, but it's bigger than what I was working with," she said of her new shop, which is housed in a red shed on the market complex.
Wally Goff, co-owner of Dawn's Country Market said he was happy to add Clean Cut Grooming to the farm-market business he opened with his wife, Dawn.
"I think this is a unique add-on," Goff said. "This is a destination business, and people here love their pets."
Owners aren't the only ones who love their pets at the country market. Working on three to four dogs a day, Pezely said she has gotten a few new clients since she moved, but she is staying busy with return customers who are happy with the way she lovingly pampers her pets while offering what she calls great rates.
"I'm a hardworking person, and I know dogs need their baths," she said. "So I charge them what I would want to be charged.
She said she's offered to groom state police dogs for free, but she has yet to be taken up on the offer, she said.
"They need to be pampered too. They are hardworking dogs," Pezely said.
The groomer is available to groom dogs and cats at Clean Cut Grooming from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 302-644-4010 or visit Dawn's Country Market on Cave Neck Road at Route 1 in Milton.
