Clear Space opens 2014 with 'The Odd Couple' Jan. 31
Unger and Madison are at it again! That’s Florence Unger and Olive Madison, in an updated version of the original Broadway and television hit, "The Odd Couple," by Neil Simon. Olive’s disaster area of a life is turned upside down by the arrival of the recently separated neat-freak Florence. The production opens Friday, Jan. 31, and plays weekends (Fridays/Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.) through Feb.16.
Director David Button said, “The [original] show was beautifully constructed, though the cast members and I have updated some of the references to the 1980s and replaced them with more current and relevant information. We believe that the audience will connect more to the updated material.”
The show features a particularly strong ensemble of actors consisting of some familiar faces and some new to the Clear Space stage, including Amy Warick of the Delaware Comedy Theatre as Olive; Elaine Faye, last seen in "Shirley Valentine," as Florence; Elizabeth Roe as Renee; Valorie Jarrell as Sylvie; Aleta Thompson as Mickey; Susann Studz as Vera; John Williams as Manolo; and Paul Fedynich as Jesus. Eddy Seger, set design; Ginger Angstadt, lighting design; Nancy Alexander, costume design; and Kevin Carter, sound design round out the creative team.
Free on-street parking is available on Baltimore Avenue.
The Buy 4-Get 5 ticket offers the opportunity to purchase tickets for four different shows and see the fifth show free. For schedule, tickets, special offers and more information, go www.ClearSpaceTheatre.org or call the box office at 302-227-2270.
