Clear Space Theatre celebrates milestone and announces $10K challenge

Apr 16, 2014

On Sept. 13, Clear Space Theatre will mark its 10th anniversary of bringing live theater and performing arts education to the residents of Sussex County.

“These 10 years have been an exciting journey for everyone,” said Chris Berg, board of directors chair. “For actors, directors, volunteers students, but most of all, for the audiences who have enjoyed an array of Clear Space productions including 'Hello Dolly,' 'Throughly Modern Millie,' 'Chicago,' 'Our Town,' 'Mousetrap,' 'The Odd Couple (female version),' and most recently 'Camelot.'”

To mark this milestone, Clear Space will host a gala Saturday, Sept. 13, a Casual Black Tie and Barefoot dinner party catered by Nage with dancing to the Funsters at the Indian River Life Saving Station. It will be a fun and fundraising event looking to the next 10 years. It will also be a celebration of the community’s continued investment in performing arts and its appreciation for what the arts contribute to local businesses, craftsmen and others, especially to those in the hospitality industry.

Kay Ryan of Bethany Beach, vice chair of the board, immediate past board chair and long-term supporter of Clear Space, is encouraging the community’s continued investment by making a $10,000 challenge grant. The challenge is to be matched by a $10,000 donor in support of the gala. Ryan says, “I am proud and confident of the vitality Clear Space brings to the community.”

She is joined by Clear Space Executive Director Wesley Paulson, who adds, “I am excited about the recognition and support Clear Space receives from the community, and I look forward to the company’s growth.”
