Col. John T. Perrin Sr., Mr. P’s Pizza owner

Col. John T. Perrin Sr., U.S. Army, Ret., 78, of Lewes, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at his home.

Born in Dover Plains, N.Y., May 31, 1934, he was a son of the late Rose Marie Hayes Perrin.

He served on active duty in the Korean War from 1951 until 1954 and retired as a colonel in the Army Reserves; he received his bachelor of arts degree from Mexico City College and his master’s degree from New York University.  He was twice an unsuccessful candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in Montgomery County, losing by the slimmest of margins.

He was an entrepreneur in the restaurant business where he was founder and creator of IL Forno restaurants, first in Bethesda, Md., then Gaithersburg, Md., and finally in Frederick, Md. After his move to Lewes he founded Mr. P's Pizza, which he operated for 13 years.

He is survived by a son, John T. Perrin Jr. of Frederick; and two grandchildren, Madelene and Colton Goodman of Middletown.

He was predeceased by his daughter Valerie Perrin-Goodman July 15, 2011.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday Nov. 23, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at graveside in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown. The Rev. Chris Frigm will officiate.
