Almost 1,500 paint-covered runners strolled through Dewey Beach June 8 in the inaugural Dewey Color Run. The event sent three waves of 500 runners out from the Rusty Rudder on a 2.8-mile trek through numerous stations where volunteers were waiting to unleash paint.

At one station in the parking lot of the Bottle & Cork a blue-green mist was so thick runners could barely be seen.

Race organizer Wayne Kursh of Races2Run said it all went off without a hitch.

"Overall everyone had a great time. So many families getting together to participate," he said. "Dewey Police said they had no problems with the crowd.
Bigger and better next year."

Money raised from the event will benefit Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.
