Complaint lodged about Obamacare

By Nick Garcia | Dec 06, 2013

Please explain to me why the Affordable Care Act is called the Affordable Care Act? I'm 25 years old and have been paying $106 a month with a $2,500 deducible since I was 21. Today, I received "the letter".

So now I need to pay $213 a month with a $6,300 deductible, and I get maternity care! I'm single and besides that, I'm a man!  But yes, I can keep my insurance. The only problem is that I can't afford it. Thank you Obama.

And by the way, I did not vote for him, so don't blame me for Obamacare.

It doesn't sound like the higher price is from ACA.  That is probably your insurance company scamming you into thinking you have to pay a higher price and pawning it off as ACA.  Unless you go through ACA registration, the price they're giving is not right. Call or go online.  Also, you have more than one option - that competition is one of the ACA features and lowers costs in the market.  Did it occur to you that the company trying to 'sell' you might not be telling all the story?  Isn't it convenient to blame the President - especially if you don't like or trust him. But maybe you should do your homework first before blaming ACA for what your profit-seeking insurance company tells you.
