CPD bestowed thanks

By Marty Seitz | Feb 15, 2013

I appreciate that the Dewey Beach commissioners, at their public meeting Feb. 9, selected me to serve on the town's planning commission.  As specified in Delaware Code (Title 22, Chapter 7), the planning commission has authority to make investigations and reports on needs of the town as it deems desirable. The planning commission submits its reports and recommendations to the town commissioners.

Prior to my sworn acceptance of the duties as a commissioner for planning, I will resign my position as a member of the steering committee of the citizens organization, Citizens to Preserve Dewey. My obligations to both volunteer positions are too great for me to accommodate considering the other commitments in my life.  The CPD steering committee, a professional group of volunteers experienced in public advocacy, guides the development of positions using input from the organization's members. The steering committee is enhanced by substantial experience in environment and safety regulation, communication and adherence to the rules for public governance. In my absence, I am certain that CPD will continue to develop substantive positions for property owners and the Dewey leadership on issues regarding development and the preservation of the town's character. Thank you, CPD members, for the opportunity to serve my community through this effective organization.
