De Boers celebrate 64 years of marriage
Samuel De Boer and Betty (Elizabeth) De Boer of Lewes married during their senior year at the University of Delaware, Dec. 18, 1949, at the bride's home in Montclair, N.J.
After the wedding they moved to St. Andrew's School in Middletown, where Sam held the position of farm manager. They completed their studies at UD and graduated in June 1950 with their classmates.
They both continued with their education - Sam studying metallurgy at Temple University and Betty pursuing a master's degree in child psychology and counseling at the University of Delaware.
Sam started working in the welding industry and became the welding sales manager with E.R. Joseph Co. The couple retired by 1992 to Lewes, where they continue to enjoy southern Delaware.
The De Boers have two daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
